The Dawn of AI (Non-Technical Version)

It was already 7, when Edward woke up by the virtue of an alarm set by his  duckiest, darlingest new android, Becky. His Wife, Bella had been trying to contact him through a drone outside his house, sent from her mother’s home(where she happens to stay right now!) a 1000 miles away from Edward.

Edward woke up, had Becky brush his teeth and then make his bathtub, where he then took a bath, before having Bella’s Drone read her message to him, asking him to send Becky to her to take care of their newborn baby, for which Edward was very upset about, since he had still not tried a lot of Becky’s features from her humour to her ability in creating excitedly creative fiction, but for the immense amount of affection he had, towards Bella and their newborn baby, He let Becky go with the drone and drove himself (which he hadn’t done in a long time since Becky had taken care of that!) to office. On reaching office, he was informed that he had got a new special type of Promotion from his company whereby he no longer needs to work but can just sit at home and enjoy with the cash he shall receive from the Government as part of the Universal Basic Income Scheme( in short he was fired!), since his company took up AI to do most of the Company’s work and fired most of its employees.
Edward went home with a smile both sweet and bitter, sweet because under the Universal Basic Income scheme he’d be receiving money even more than what his job has gave him and bitter for he could no longer enjoy the peculiarities of working..

This tale might have seemed a very far-off distant future or a tale from another universe, but in fact it does happen to be a scenario of a not-very-distant future.
Developments in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence have already dragged the Human race way ahead from where it was back in the 2000s.

With the most recent developments being: To identify and prevent shark attacks, To self-drive cars and drones, Making Music, Paintings and Poems, Identifying and tracking Criminals, Predicting Election Results, Driving Missiles, Solving problems in Astrophysics, Optimizing Farming to grow food for 10 billion people from the same land we farm on today,  Diagnosing Cancer better than Any human doctor ever could, Designing Fashion, Telling the recipe of some food item just by looking at its picture, Re-creating a video game just by looking at it, Winning games of poker, Chess and Go against the World’s best players, even winning a game of Dota against some of the World’s best players and much more!
According to Researches, It is quite probable that AI will replace all human jobs by 2030 and be better than humans in everything by the end of the Century. It is not wrong when AI Visionary, Andrew Ng has said, ‘AI is the new electricity’. AI will be transforming the way we are living in the 21st Century, the same way in which electricity transformed the way our fathers and grandfathers lived back in the 20th Century.
Even though developments in AI may not be so visible today, they are invisibly everywhere: When you get product recommendations on Flipkart, Amazon, Paytm or Snapdeal or Movie Recommendations on BookMyShow, there’s AI involved. When you are using Google Translate, Siri, Google Now or Cortana to help you with stuff, there’s AI involved. Even when you are simply surfing the internet and seeing different types of advertisements, there is AI Involved. When you are typing on your phone and getting AutoCorrect Suggestions, there’s AI involved, even when you are simple.
To get a better insight into the way the above story is already becoming a reality of households, consider the highest employment sector of India, Calling Centres. Indian Startups named Morph.ai, Cognea and Niki.ai are already replacing millions of people at Calling Centres throughout the nation.

Neural Networks, Regression Models and Other complex machine Learning paradigms are being at the base of the AI Revolution which is taking the world by storm, but equally important it is to notice that the current paradigm of AI would never be leading to any Robot Apocalypse as portrayed in Movies like Avengers: Age of Ultron and Terminatior for one simple reason: No matter how good work today’s AI does, it cannot think! It could innovate and create but can’t be conscious about it and hence could never even think of harming humans since its just Math and Linear Algebra at the end of the day!
